Slavomír Hořínka
(*1980)
graduated as a violinist from the Pardubice Conservatoire, where Dalibor Hlava was his teacher. Following that he studied composition at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts with Ivan Kurz (1999–2004). He found his residency at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2003 (Prof. Daan Manneke, Jorrit Taminga, Ned McGovan) both inspirational and interesting. In 2008 he graduated with a PhD in composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, under the guidance of Doc. Hanuš Bartoň. His compositions have been performed by the Czech Philharmonic, Chamber Philharmonic Pardubice, the BERG Orchestra, Bohuslav Martinů Chamber Orchestra, South Bohemian Philharmonic, the Bennewitz Quartet, Ensemble Moens and Puellae Cantantes. Since 2006 he has taught at the Department of Composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
