Vojtěch Esterle

(*1987)

began interpreting, improvising and composing music during his school years at the Primary Musical School in Starý Plzenec. In 2002 he was a student in the piano class of M. Averkiev at the Pilsen Conservatoire and also attended lessons in composition with K. Šimandl and M. Slavický. Currently he is a 5th year student with L. Mrkvička at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. His pieces for organ have been performed in Poland and Germany, and in 2007 he won First Prize at the Barkauer Jugendkompositions-preis in Kirchbarkau, Germany. Vojtěch Esterle works as an accompanist and teacher. He has collaborated with many personalities from the Czech theatre world on programmes organised by Lyra Pragensis. He accompanies dance improvisation classes (Conservatoire Duncan Centre), takes part in performances with various ensembles where he plays Baroque continuo and from 2009 has been a regular member of the Musica Malinconica ensemble. He is an interpreter of church music; as a freelance organ player he has accompanied services in many evangelical churches.
