Jan Dušek
(*1985)
graduated from the Teplice Conservatory (piano, composition) then studied composition with Hanus Barton at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague,
where he is currently a doctoral student. As a pianist, he has participated in several master classes and was awarded with prizes in various
competitions (Concertino Praga, International B. Smetana Piano Competition, Conservatory Competition Display). He frequently performs contemporary
and 20th-century music, collaborating with Czech soloists, chamber ensembles, and orchestras. Twice he was awarded 1st prize at The Generation
Competition: in 2006 for "...seven days from now I will send rain on the earth..."; and in 2007 for "Gradation for Organ." In the NUBERG 2008
competition his work “Chalomot iehudi’im” won the audience prize. His works are regularly commissioned by Czech festivals (International Festival
of Concert Melodrama), international soloists (Ahlert & Schwab Duo, Germany), and chamber ensembles (Nederland Blazer Ensemble).
