Jan Trojan
(*1982)
studied composition at the Teplice Conservatoire with Václav Bůžek, followed by studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with Milan Slavický. In 2012 he finished his postgraduate studies of electronic music composition with Michal Rataj; his thesis was on the subject of acoustic ecology and soundscape. He has participated in many workshops of electronic music, was awarded at the Generation competition (2004, 2008) and 60 Concrete Seconds of Music competition (2008). He participated in the ISA composition classes of 2007 and took up two semesters of residency at the Universität der Künste in Berlin (2011-12). Since 2012 he has been the tutor at the Faculty of Composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, specialising in electronic music. He also creates and takes part in acoustic performances, both as soloist or with a group of his experimentative co-players. He finds the world around him a rich and diverse landscape of sounds, which he journeys through with great interest.
