Jan Šikl

(*1984)

began composing at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatoire, Prague. He now studies with Otomar Kvěch at the Prague Conservatoire and he also reads musicology at the Philosophical Faculty at Charles University in Prague. Apart from classical composition he is also actively involved as a musician and composer in nujazz (Soliloqui band, keyboard), world music and even traditional folk music (Korjen group, percussion). He has delved in to the area of music for stage and film but most often he looks for inspiration in jazz from northern countries, in electronic music and European minimalism. In his free time he intuitively and unsystematically looks for the meaning of life.
