Roman Pallas
(*1978)
studied piano at Conservatory in Teplice (Hana Turkova, 1993-1999) and composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (Ivana Loudova, 1999-2004). He composed numerous chamber, vocal and orchestral works. He is also active musician, at present time he performs primarily as choir master. As pianist he concentrates on contemporary music. He has collaborated with Agon Orchestra, Konvergence Composers’ Association and performed at Contemporary Music Days (Prague), Exposition of New Music (Brno), Forfest Festival (Kromeriz), New Music Marthon (Prague), Three-days’ Plus (Prague) and others. As choirmaster and pianist he performed many world premieres by young Czech composers, his fellows. Of eminent importance and as inspirational source, both within composition and performing, are to him works by American composer George Crumb. He won prizes from numerous competitions (e.g. Generation 2000, Generation 2002). Currently he teaches music theory at the Conservatory in Teplice and choire conducting at the Pedagogical Faculty of UJEP in Usti nad Labem.
