Jiří Kadeřábek - Don Hamburger
Premiere: ROXY club, November 4, 2010
Jiří Kadeřábek - voice
Why should so-called high art address the deepest questions of human existence? Is the grandeur of an artistic work derived from the grandeur of the ideas it expresses more than from the work in itself? Why is it a car or an iron placed in a gallery may inspire more questions and emotions than a work attempting to express something as „art“. How does pop-art work? Mozart’s operas are a model example – the librettos are not very sophisticated and yet they are still full of life – thanks to the high quality of the music. Then why not compose a musical piece on fast-food? A piece short, light, and springy? The preparation of the feast from Don Giovanni seems like the perfect place to start.
