Jiří Hájek
(*1976)
began his musical career playing lead guitar in several hard-core bands and later studied classical guitar at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory.
At the same time he took private classes of composition and conducting with Dr. Štěpán Koníček. He is the co-founder and conductor of the Symphonic
Orchestra of Prague 8. Jiří Hájek graduated from composition at the Academy of Performing Arts, under professor Ivan Kurz. His bachelor work Concerto
for trumpet, tympani and strings was premiered by the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic. He also composes music for ballet, theatre, and film,
collaborating with Prague Chamber Ballet, composing scores for more than 10 films, he is also a close collaborator of Daniel Špinar (Masquarade,
Mary Stuart, Heda Gabler, The Seagull). As composer, he also co-operated in the audio-book project „Children read for blind children“.
