MIDI, or Musical Instrument Digital Interface. This revolutionary technological innovation has made it possible to connect live musicians with digital instruments, and our concert offers a dialogue between the acoustic and digital worlds. A fascinating work by German composer Michael Beil connects live musicians with virtual reality and video. Canadian author Nicole Lizée also uses video, and in a new work by young Slovak composer Patrik Herman, musicians compete with a live-controlled sampler. The boundary between reality and virtual reality is becoming increasingly blurred.
