The famous utopian novel The City Without Jews by Austrian Jewish writer and journalist Hugo Bettauer received its film premiere in October 1924. Exactly one hundred years later, the premiere of a new expanded version of the film with music by Peter Wajsar will take place. The accompanying event commemorates the sad anniversary of the beginning of the mass deportations of Jews from the territory of the Protectorate in October 1941. The evening was scheduled in spring 2023 and despite the coincidence of the date with the terrorist attack of October 7 a year ago, we decided not to cancel it and to dedicate it to the memory of the victims.
